What is the pill?

The pill is also known as the oral contraceptive pill. It is a safe method of preventing pregnancy. If you take your pill at the same time each day, it is very reliable.

The pill contains a tiny amount of hormones that are released into your body to stop you from getting pregnant.

What types of pills are there?

There are two different types:

The combined pill

The combined pill is what is commonly known as 'the pill'. It contains two types of hormones – oestrogen and progestogen.
